Built in the early 1900’s, one of Lebanon’s largest Synagogues. I have visited many throughout Lebanon, this specific location, twice, in May 2024 and February 2026.
I feel at home in there and feel a presence that isn’t really measurable. Many dozens of synagogues throughout Lebanon were forcefully abandoned and many repurposed as a result an occupying project in the region. We were never meant to be separated. I wonder when we’ll arrive at curiosity again and question the narratives we’ve been fed. That’s research to save for another time, another project.
